Online Therapy

Accessible, Evidence-Based Mental Health Care Delivered Wherever You Are

What Is Online Therapy?

Online therapy is a form of telehealth that enables you to meet with a therapist in real-time through secure video conferencing on your computer, tablet, or other device. It is recognized as a legitimate and effective method for receiving mental health care and is widely used in clinical settings across the United States and internationally.

Does Online Therapy Work?

Research consistently shows that online therapy can be as effective as in-person care for many conditions, including obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), depression, and anxiety disorders. For example, Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP)—the gold standard for OCD—has been found to work equally well when delivered online. Unlike self-help books, online forums, or telephone coaching, live one-on-one therapy via video provides the personalized guidance and support people need to make meaningful progress.

Why Choose Online Therapy?

This 12-week program equips therapists with the knowledge and skills to confidently assess and treat OCD using evidence-based approaches, such as Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP). Developed by leading experts and refined through years of international training experience, the course combines structured learning, case-based discussions, and optional supervision to ensure you leave prepared to apply what you have learned in real-world clinical settings.

How Does It Compare to In-Person Care?

While there is value in face-to-face interactions, our experience shows that online therapy can be just as effective as in-person sessions, depending on the nature and severity of symptoms. Before starting treatment, we conduct a detailed assessment to determine whether online, in-person, or hybrid sessions are best for you. We’ll also discuss the advantages and limitations of each format so you can make an informed decision.

What Technology Do You Need?

To participate in online therapy, you will need:

  • A computer or tablet with a camera and microphone (built-in or external)
  • A stable internet connection
  • A quiet, private space free from distractions
  • The free VSee or Zoom application is installed in advance
  • Optional: headphones or earbuds for better sound quality and privacy

If technical issues arise during a session, reconnecting to the platform usually resolves the problem quickly.

Is It Hard to Use?

Most people find online therapy straightforward and comfortable. We use VSee and Zoom, secure video platforms designed for healthcare settings. Many people report that once the session begins, it feels similar to sitting in the therapy room with their provider.

Who Benefits from Online Therapy?

Online therapy can be an effective option for many individuals, including those who live far from specialized care, have mobility challenges, or prefer the flexibility of remote sessions. It may not be ideal for those who lack private space for sessions, such as individuals in shared dorms or noisy environments. Suitability is always assessed individually.
