Therapists are often trained to analyze problems and implement interventions, but are less often taught how to bring their full, genuine selves into the room. Yet, research shows that real therapeutic change is often rooted in moments of authentic human connection. Many clinicians want to feel more confident in these moments but struggle to know where to begin or how to use them effectively in sessions.

This Level One training introduces the principles of Functional Analytic Psychotherapy (FAP), an evidence-based approach that views the therapeutic relationship itself as a powerful tool for healing. Over the course of eight weeks, you’ll learn to cultivate awareness, courage, and therapeutic love through experiential practices, guided exercises, and collaborative reflections with fellow participants. By the end of the program, you’ll understand not only the theory behind FAP but also how to begin applying it in a way that feels authentic and sustainable.
Sessions combine conceptual learning with experiential exercises to deepen understanding and practical skills. Each week builds upon the previous, helping you recognize relational patterns—your own and your clients’—while learning to shape them toward growth and connection. You’ll engage in group discussions, receive real-time feedback, and complete personal reflection assignments designed to expand both your clinical skills and self-awareness.
