Healing is about more than reducing symptoms—it’s about understanding your story, discovering your strengths, and creating a life that reflects your values. Neil Schneeberg, LPC-A believes that therapy provides an opportunity to better understand ourselves while developing the tools needed to navigate life’s most difficult challenges. His collaborative, person-centered approach combines evidence-based care with genuine curiosity, compassion, and respect for each client’s unique experiences.
Neil earned his Master of Arts in Holistic Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Salve Regina University, graduating with honors. He previously earned his bachelor’s degree in English with a concentration in Cultural Studies from Eastern Connecticut State University, where he completed the university’s Honors Program. His academic background reflects a lifelong passion for understanding the human experience through psychology, culture, and the stories we tell about ourselves.
Through extensive clinical training in community behavioral health, Neil has worked with individuals facing trauma, substance use disorders, emotional distress, and complex life challenges. He believes that meaningful change occurs through a strong therapeutic relationship, evidence-based interventions, and helping clients reconnect with their own resilience and capacity for growth.
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) Specialized expertise in Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) for OCD, including Harm OCD, Sexual OCD, contamination fears, phobias, and related anxiety disorders. Neil has extensive experience providing both individual therapy and intensive outpatient treatment for individuals with complex OCD presentations.
Support for Adults with OCD Neil facilitates an ongoing OCD support group where he helps people with shared struggles due to OCD symptoms find hope, connection, advice, community, and insight through listening, engaging with, and sharing stories. One of the most common struggles shared among those who experience OCD is loneliness and feeling misunderstood in a culture where few understand what it’s like to struggle with this diagnosis. Neil creates a welcoming environment where people feel free to discuss their symptoms without judgement in a space of compassion and confidentiality.
Trauma & Emotional Healing Neil works with individuals recovering from trauma and overwhelming life experiences, creating a safe and supportive therapeutic environment where clients can process difficult emotions, build resilience, and move toward lasting healing.
Anxiety, Depression & Life Transitions Neil helps clients better understand the relationship between thoughts, emotions, and behaviors while developing practical coping strategies to manage anxiety, depression, stress, and major life changes.
Identity, Personal Growth & Self-Discovery Using person-centered and narrative therapy approaches, Neil helps clients explore the beliefs, experiences, and personal stories that shape their lives, empowering them to build greater self-awareness and create meaningful change.
Neil completed a year-long clinical internship at The Connection Center for Behavioral Health, where he provided individual therapy, facilitated trauma recovery, substance use, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and intensive outpatient treatment groups, conducted comprehensive intake assessments, developed individualized treatment plans, and managed crisis situations within a multidisciplinary behavioral health setting.
His clinical training emphasized evidence-based interventions, trauma-informed care, crisis assessment, and person-centered counseling. In addition to direct clinical work, Neil developed a clinician wellness initiative focused on reducing burnout and vicarious traumatization by providing education, assessment tools, and practical self-care strategies for behavioral health professionals.
Before entering the counseling profession, Neil’s academic work centered on literature, philosophy, and cultural studies, exploring the ways people create meaning through language, relationships, and lived experience. His background as a teaching assistant and tutor strengthened his ability to listen deeply, foster thoughtful dialogue, and guide others through complex ideas with empathy and patience.
Today, these experiences continue to shape his work as a therapist. Neil believes that every person’s story deserves to be heard with compassion and that therapy offers an opportunity to rewrite patterns that no longer serve us while building a more hopeful future.
Neil approaches therapy with authenticity, humility, and collaboration. He believes that clients are the experts on their own lives and that meaningful healing occurs when individuals feel safe enough to explore difficult emotions without judgment. By integrating evidence-based practices with a strengths-based, person-centered approach, Neil helps clients develop practical skills while fostering resilience, self-understanding, and lasting emotional growth.
Neil provides compassionate, evidence-based therapy for adolescents and adults seeking support with trauma, substance use, anxiety, depression, life transitions, and personal growth. Whether you are beginning therapy for the first time or navigating a particularly challenging season of life, Neil is committed to helping you build resilience, discover new possibilities, and create meaningful, lasting change.
